Guess you will love Boehner as Speaker of the House. May your children curse you.

Why were the youth more politically involved in the 60s than now?

SarahLee 1 point2 points 2 days ago[-]

The Draft. They had something immediately at risk.

Plus the civil rights movemant and then the emerging environmental movement.

The feminist movement hit as more women were enrolling in college and also had more at state in the fight for equal rights for women and enough of us had lost someone to a back alley abortion making the fight for safe and legal abortions a priority, just as we gained sexual freedom with advances in birth control.

After the Leave it To Beaver fantasies we grew up with conflicted with the life we were living, a lot of new ideas popped up that gave us all a lot of reasons to participate and work towards something different.

But I would say that for most - the draft was what opened eyes and gave the needed nudge to get students out and involved.

I haven't heard a thing about Joe Biden in a long time. Who else thinks that's a good thing?

SarahLee 2 points3 points 2 days ago[-]

Agree. I, too like Biden a lot. Love what a good father he has been to his son's after the accident that took his first wife and I like his wife. Honest to goodness real family values and an honest empathy with those struggling in life.

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but would it really matter all that much if Obama actually WAS a Muslim?

Not to me. But apparently there are a lot of people living in this country that are pretty unpatriotic and have no respect for our constitution and would be upset.
