Are there any diet pills that won't kill you?

Thanks for posting the non obvious "exercise and better" answer.

I found out my friends fiance is unfaithful... need help.

CranberryJuice 1 point2 points 1 month ago[-]

I don't agree with that reasoning at all. It may be true for some people, but it's a poor generalization.

I married my first and we were high school sweet hearts. I'm only 26 so "ever after" is a ways to go but things are going well. From a purely practical point of view she is about as perfect as is reasonable. It's still easy to have long conversations, we hang out without hanging out too much, and we trust each other emphatically.

The downside is that as we age different things become important to us and people change. There are things about her I appreciate more and other parts that I would ideally choose to be different. I'm sure the same is true in reverse. We are both willing to adapt somewhat to those wants and needs so there's some fulfillment.

The only other option would be to keep waiting for someone who is more perfect of a match but that isn't going to happen. I would end up dating someone or some "type" of girl for X years until my next life cycle starts and never get married. The stability of marriage works and again, from a practical view it's unlikely I find someone more compatible than my current wife so that would be a poor risk. It would be like playing poker, getting knocked down to one big blind of chips left with 6 more hands til I had to pay and throwing away QQ because it wasn't good enough.

Was anyone else as disappointed as I was when they found out that Orson Scott Card was a raging zealot-bigot?

Sounds like Orson Scott Card is involved in an epic ideological duel with Ayn Rand.

Dear Reddit, did you believe that one day you'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars?

CranberryJuice 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

I don't know. The traditional path will end with me being a millionaire at 50. I don't work long hours, I've never studied long hours. I put in what I need to do well but not so much that I sacrifice other parts of my life.

Live a balanced life and get into a career that helps you sustain that. On the side, work on your business ideas if and only if you enjoy doing them. I have some side projects and for the most part I am as happy to work on them as playing a video game or sports or drinking.

To answer your original question, I felt school taught me to work hard so that I wouldn't be destitute living in the streets. School and following the "plan" helps you avoid complete failure, not reach immense success.

How many of you (American) redditors would avoid the draft if it was reinstated to wage war against N.K./Iran?

CranberryJuice 0 points1 point 2 months ago[-]

Depends on the legitimacy of the war. If it's an Iraq type war then yes, I would avoid the draft. If it's a WW2 type war then no.

I YeahHeDid, he having bought a lottery ticket for a $50M jackpot, commits to treating 5 redditors with gifts worth $100K each, chosen from this thread. What would you like?

A question for the conservatives: If you don't believe that the government should guarantee universal health coverage, then do you believe that people who can't provide it for themselves deserve to die? Please explain how my logic here is faulty.

If you want conservatives to give their honest opinion, you may consider not downvoting them into oblivion if you don't agree...

Hey Reddit, what are the best non-fiction books?

CranberryJuice 1 point2 points 6 months ago[-]

Because I failed to give a non-fiction book the first time here's a couple that have no narratives but at least actually ARE non-fiction:

I thought the point of school was to learn new things. Why learn what you already "know"?
